- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 large onions
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 lb ground beef, cooked
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- 8 pickle slices
- 1/4 cup burger sauce
-
1
Prepare the cheese base
Line a baking tray with parchment paper and spread the shredded mozzarella evenly across the surface in a thin layer.
-
2
Slice and layer onions
Slice the onions into thin rings using a mandoline or sharp knife. Arrange the onion rings in overlapping rows on top of the mozzarella cheese layer.
-
3
Season and bake
Drizzle the onions with vegetable oil and season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes until the cheese is golden and crispy and the onions are softened.
-
4
Cool and remove from pan
Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Carefully lift the cheese-onion sheet off the parchment paper onto a cutting board.
-
5
Add fillings
Place cheddar cheese slices in a line down the center of the baked sheet. Top with cooked ground beef, shredded iceberg lettuce, and pickle slices.
-
6
Add sauce and roll
Drizzle burger sauce over the fillings. Starting from one edge, roll the wrap tightly around the fillings to form a log shape.
-
7
Slice and serve
Cut the roll into portions and serve with extra burger sauce for dipping.
Use lean ground beef for a lighter option. The onion-cheese base should be flexible when warm but firms up as it cools, so roll while still slightly warm.
